Does buying a California King put you in the cool kids category?
No. It just means you will now have a harder time finding bedding.
Here at Comfort King one of the most common misconceptions we hear from shoppers is that Cali Kings are “bigger” than standard (“Eastern”) king size. The fact is that Cali Kings are 4 inches Longer, but 4 inches NARROWER, than the standard king. So, what I usually tell shoppers is that California Kings are for tall skinny sleepers.
And since standard kings, A.K.A “Eastern King”, are way more common here in the Midwest, the availability of sheets, bedding & headboard furniture is going to be fairly slim pickens for California King.
